Ostheoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis, caused by gradual breakdown of cartilage in the joints.

It leads to pain, stiffness, swelling and reduced mobility, especially in weight-bearing joints like the knees and hips. Pain in osteoarthritis is driven by both mechanical stress and low-grade inflammation. Traditional management includes lifestyle modifications, physiotherapy, medications, injections and in severe cases, joint replacement surgery.
For patients who are not surgical candidates or prefer less invasive options, pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) has emerged as a promising technique. Research suggests that PRF reduces oxidative stress at the cellular level, which in turn decreases inflammatory activity around the joint. By interrupting this cycle of oxidative stress and inflammation, PRF can lower pain sensitivity and improve joint function — without causing structural damage to surrounding tissues.
