Myofascial pain

Myofascial pain arises from muscles and the connective tissue (fascia) that surrounds them.

It is often associated with tight bands or “trigger points” that are painful when pressed and may refer pain to other areas. Patients describe aching, stiffness and limited movement. Causes include overuse, poor posture or trauma. Treatment may involve physiotherapy, stretching, dry needling or injections. In some cases, neuromodulatory techniques are considered when pain becomes chronic and resistant to standard therapy.
