Lumbar radiculopathy

Lumbar radiculopathy occurs when nerve roots in the lower spine are compressed or irritated, often by a herniated disc or spinal stenosis.

Patients typically report sharp, shooting pain radiating from the lower back into the leg (commonly called sciatica), sometimes with numbness or weakness. Management includes rest, medications, physiotherapy or epidural injections. Interventional techniques such as PRF of the dorsal root ganglion may provide significant relief by modulating nerve activity without destroying the nerve.
