Lumbar pain

Lumbar pain is the most common type of spinal pain and a leading cause of disability worldwide. It can arise from muscles, ligaments, intervertebral discs, facet joints, or nerve compression.

Patients may describe it as dull, aching, or stabbing, sometimes with radiation into the legs. While most acute episodes improve within weeks, chronic lumbar pain often requires a combination of exercise therapy, lifestyle changes, and interventional procedures. Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is sometimes applied to nerves in the lumbar spine to reduce pain while preserving normal nerve function.
